Add Device > Normal Mode (Default Method)

Normal Mode is the default and connects via your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel only. (Does not work with 5GHz channel.)  Normal mode allows you to connect several CE Smart devices at the same time.

1.  Connect your phone to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

2.  Tap "+" in the top right corner of the home screen to enter device connection page and select device type.

3.  For Normal Mode, please make sure the LED indicator on the device is flashing rapidly (2 times per second). Tap “Help” or view the below for steps on how to get the LED         indicator rapidly flashing:

How to get LED rapidly flashing for Normal Mode Connection:

Outlets/Plugs:

• Press and hold the Wi-Fi power button for 7-10 seconds until LED indicator begins rapidly flashing (2 times per second). If Red LED comes on upon release, press and release again to get LED rapidly flashing.

Light Switches:

• Slide the air gap switch to the right to power on

• Press the dimmer switch paddle five times quickly. Press and hold the sixth time for 5-8 seconds and release. Wait 5 seconds upon release for the LED indicator to begin rapidly flashing.

4.  Tap “Confirm indicator rapidly blink.”

5.  Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password and tap “Confirm” to enter the device connection process.

6.  Device Connection Process will begin to connect device.

Add Device > AP Mode (Access Point Mode)

In AP Mode, your device broadcasts a device name in your phone’s Wi-Fi Settings that allows the Wi-Fi device to connect to your network. If using AP mode, you must connect devices one by one. Connect via AP mode when normal mode has failed or if you have a dual band router that has only one SSID (network name).

1.  Connect your phone to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

2.  Tap "+" in the upper right corner of the home screen to enter device connection page and select device type.

3.  Tap “AP Mode” in upper right screen.

4.  Make sure the device’s indicator light is slowly flashing (1 time every 2 seconds).

How to get LED slowly flashing for AP Mode Connection:

Outlets/Plugs:

• Press and hold the Wi-Fi power button for 7-10 seconds until LED indicator begins rapidly flashing (2 times per second). If Red LED comes on upon release, press and release again to get LED rapidly flashing.

• Once LED is rapidly flashing, press and hold the Wi-Fi power button again for another 7-10 seconds until LED indicator begins slowly flashing (1 time every 2 seconds). If Red LED comes on upon release, press and release again to get LED slowly flashing.

Light Switches:

• Slide the air gap switch to the right to power on

• Press the dimmer switch paddle five times quickly. Press and hold the sixth time for 5-8 seconds and release. Wait 5 seconds upon release for the LED indicator to begin rapidly flashing.

• Once the LED indicator is rapidly flashing, repeat the above step to get the LED slowly flashing: press the dimmer switch paddle five times quickly. Press and hold the sixth time for 5-8 seconds and release. Wait 5 seconds upon release for the LED indicator to begin slowly flashing.

5.  Tap “Confirm indicator slowly blink.”

6.  Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password and tap “Confirm.”

7.  Open Wi-Fi Settings to connect to Device’s Access Point Wi-Fi name.

8.  Locate then Tap the Wi-Fi device name, either CE Smart_XXXX or SmartLife_XXXX.

9.  Tap Connect and wait 10 seconds before navigating back to the CE Smart app.

   10.  Device Connection Process will begin and connect device.

Not all Wi-Fi installations are the same. In the case of a failed connection, please follow the steps to try connection in AP mode. If you are having trouble getting the LED indicator rapidly flashing when setting up the device on your Wi-Fi, please repeat the steps or reference FAQs for more details to get the LED indicator quickly flashing.

Network Connection Process

The App goes through the process of Connecting the Device, and displays a percentage on the connection screen while connecting. When the percentage reaches 100% the device should be successfully connected and registered to the cloud. The device default name will appear on the screen. You may rename the device by tapping the pencil icon to edit. This allows you to name your device to a better description of what the device is controlling, for example, “Living Room Lamp.” You may also assign the Device to a Room by tapping on the room name. Tap “Completed” to finish setup.

Troubleshooting Adding Device Failure

If your App interface failed to connect your outlet to your mobile device, it means that the network connection failed. Make sure you are connected to only a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel on your phone/tablet that is being used to connect the smart device.  Make sure you typed the correct password for your router. Try connecting again or view help in the app or FAQs on website: www.cesmarthome.com. If connection continues to fail, try connecting your device in AP Mode.

Controlling Devices

After successful configuration, connected devices will be displayed on the “Home” screen. Tap a device to access the device controls. Tap the pencil icon located in the upper right corner of the screen to access more device settings, share the device or create a group.

Note: When device is offline or no longer connected, “Offline” will appear under the device name on the Home screen. Tap "+" from the Home screen and follow the on-screen instructions to re-connect the device.
