There are two configuration methods, EZ Mode and AP mode, explained below.
Default Connection is EZ mode, however, if EZ Mode connection fails, please try connecting in AP mode.
Please note: CE Smart Home Devices require connection to a 2.4GHz band and will not connect to a 5GHz band network.
Dual Band Routers:
- If you have a dual band router with both a 2.4GHz band and a 5GHz band in one SSID (network name), please separate the bands or connect via AP mode for stable connection.
- If you have a dual band router with both a 2.4GHz band and a 5GHz band with separate SSIDs (network names) and initial connection fails, please ensure you are connected to the 2.4GHz band only. If still having trouble, please attempt connection in AP mode.
Once the Wi-Fi Smart Power Strip has been successfully configured, the power strip (and any other configured CE Smart Home Devices), can be controlled remotely using cellular data or Wi-Fi from your phone or tablet.
- The Smart Power Strip must remain connected to the 2.4GHz network it was configured to.
EZ Mode - Smart Power Strip (Outlets/Plugs):
EZ Mode is the default connection mode and requires connection to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band.
EZ mode allows you to connect several CE Smart Home Devices at the same time.
The blue LED indicator should be rapidly flashing (2 times per second) when you are initializing connection in EZ Mode.
First, check to ensure your phone/tablet being used to connect smart devices is connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Next, make sure your device is in close range to your Wi-Fi router.
Plug the Power Strip into a standard wall outlet, and switch 'on' the master power switch (located on the side body of the power strip)
Please note, the master power switch must remain 'on' for Wi-Fi control
- In the CE Smart App, Tap “Add Device” or the “+” in the upper right corner to enter the device connection page
- Select “Outlets/Plugs” as device type
- Next, initialize a quick flashing (1x every 2-3 seconds) blue LED light.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi Control Button for 10 seconds until blue LED indicator starts rapidly flashing (2x per second), then release.
- Confirm the indicator is rapidly flashing - Tap “Confirm indicator rapidly blink" in the App.
- Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password, and tap “OK” to enter the device connection process.
- Device Connection Process will begin and connect device.
- While connecting, it is normal for the LED indicator to briefly stop flashing.
AP Mode - Smart Power Strip (Outlets/Plugs):
In AP mode, or Access Point Mode, the Smart Device broadcasts a hotspot to connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Please try connection in AP mode if EZ Mode fails.
The blue LED indicator should be slowly flashing (1x every 2-3 seconds) when initializing connection in AP mode.
In the CE Smart App, Tap “Add Device” or the “+” in the upper right corner to enter the device connection page
Select “Outlets/Plugs” as device type
Next, follow the steps below to initialize a slow flashing (1x every 2-3 seconds) blue LED light.
Press and hold the Wi-Fi Control Button for 10 seconds until the blue LED indicator starts quickly flashing (2x per 1 second), then release.
While the LED indicator is quickly flashing, press and hold the Wi-Fi Control Button again until the indicator light begins slowly flashing (1x every 2-3 seconds), then release.
- Confirm the indicator is slowly flashing - Tap “Confirm indicator slowly blink" in the app.
- Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password and tap “OK.”
- Tap “Go Connect” to open your mobile device's Wi-Fi settings
- Locate and Tap to connect to the device's Access Point Wi-Fi name, i.e. CE Smart-XXXX or SmartLife-XXXX.
- Go back to the CE Smart App.
- Device connection process will begin and connect device.
While connecting, it is normal for the LED indicator to briefly stop flashing.
